Murshidabad, Apr 27: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Congress came together when Sonia Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee campaigned jointly sharing a dais in West Bengal on Monday, Apr 27.
Addressing the rally at Jangipur Sonia Gandhi called West Bengal the pride of the nation. She slammed West Bengal's Left Front government saying that they stood in between the schemes taken up by the centre and the common man.
"All these years of CPI-M (Communist Party of India-Marxist) rule in West Bengal have not benefited the people," she said.
While United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson, welcomed Mamata Banerjee's decision to tie up with the Congress, Mamata Banerjee expressed confidence over the Congress-TMC alliance and that it would be able to oust the Left from the state.
Pranab Mukherjee also was at the rally and targeted the minority votes by promising setting up of Aligarh Muslim University campus in Murshidabad district of the state.
