Orissa: Man beheads granddaughter for good harvest
Bhubaneshwar, Apr 27: In a bizarre incident a 10-year-old girl in Orissa was beheaded for yielding good harvest. Police said that grandfather of Bernaka Kandulana killed her in belief that sowing seeds mixed with her blood would yield a bumper crop.
The barbaric incident, spurred by age-old superstitions, took place Sunday at the tribal-populated Adapathar village in Sambalpur district, over 450 km from here. The incident came to light after the villagers caught the culprit, Rajesh Hembram and handed over him to the police.
