NGO's shut operation in NWFP's Battagram district after Taliban threat
Lahore, Apr.26 (ANI): All non-government organisations (NGOs) have shut their operations in the Battagram district of NWFP following Taliban's threat.
According to the Daily Times, the organizations received threatening mails from the outlawed outfit asking them to suspend their operations in the district immediately.
The threatening letters termed the NGO's offices as 'centres of vulgarity'.
Following the threat all local and international NGO's including the United Nations International Children Emergency Fund and the National Human Rights Commission have scrapped their work from the region.
Meanwhile, authorities have beefed-up security for the Chinese engineers working at the Allai Khaward hydropower project in the Allai area of the province. (ANI)
