Daredevil's skipper Virendra Sehwag won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision looked to place the team in trouble when Sehwag and his opening partner Gautam Gambhir returned to pavilion at a score of eight.

After their departure, AB de Villiers came into bat and hit a hard-hitting century. Tillakaratne Dilshan supported him well and scored 68 runs for third wicket with him. Dilshan made 50 runs off 27 deliveries with six sixes.

Dilshan's departure could not stop Villiers from playing shots. He scored 105 runs off 54 deliveries with six sixes and five fours.

With some late hitting by wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik and Manoj Tiwari, Delhi Daredevils' scored 189 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs.

For Chennai Super Kings, Lakshmipathy Balaji was the most successful bowler with three wickets.

Chasing a victory target of 190, Chennai Super Kings openers Parthiv Patel and Matthew Hayden gave a great start to their team and put on 57 runs for the first wicket.

Hayden hit 57 runs off 27 deliveries with five fours and three sixes. Suresh Raina also played some beautiful shots and his 41-run knock came off 27 deliveries with five fours and one huge six.

Once, Super Kings needed just 33 runs in 23 balls with five wickets in hand, but some great efforts taken by the Delhi Daredevils turned the match out of its hand.
