Moradabad/ Jalandhar/Coimbatore, Apr 22 (ANI): Former cricket skipper and Congress candidate Mohammad Azharuddin filed his nomination papers from the Moradabad parliamentary constituency.
Azharuddin was accompanied by his wife Sangeeta Bijlani.
Azharuddin is contesting mainly against the candidates of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Meanwhile, renowned singer Hans Raj Hans, who recently joined the Shiromani Akali DAl (SAD) filed his nominations from Jalandhar (Reserved) constituency.
Hans, a top civilian award winner, said that his poll plank would be beautification of the constituency.
"I am trying to understand life by being a part of people and understanding their problems. I will try to beautify Jalandhar. I have always been a man from the villages. That's the reason I couldn't settle in the Unites States of America or Mumbai, " said Hans.
The SAD is an ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP.
In Coimbatore, an independent candidate came decked up in a king's attire to file his nomination papers.
The 53-year-old Noor Mohammad, who failed 19 times in various elections, put on the new attire, apparently to please lady luck.
