Google rolls out Similar Images, News Timeline
San Francisco, Apr 21: Search engine giant Google Inc's unveiled new software tools that will allow people to search the internet using pictures or chronologically organise results of queries for news, the Similar Images and News Timeline.
Similar Images, as the name suggest, allows the user to restrict image searches to pictures that are similar to a source picture while the Google News Timeline presents a new interface for searching Google News. Google Labs has now also moved to its own Googlelabs.com domain and sports a new interface.
"So if you see an image you like, but you're stumped on how to describe it, just click the 'Similar images' link to see more like it," reads an online posting by 'Googlers' Chuck Rosenberg, Andy Hertzfeld, and Michael Cohen.
Google News Timeline collects stories from newspapers, magazines, blogs and other sources and presents search results in chronological graphs that can be zoomed in on or navigated by dates.
