Dubai, Apr.21 (ANI): Despite the fact that the Australian team would be missing their three top class players in the Dubai one day international series, Pakistan captain Younis Khan has asked teammates not to be complacent against the World Champions.
Khan said that the absence of Captain Ricky Ponting, middle order batsman Mike Hussey and fast bowler Mitchell Johnson would not make much different to the Kangaroos, as they still have several talented players in the side.
"Their absence is not going to change the attitude of other (Australian) players, who will be eager to make their mark. They are the only team in the world where players come in and go out and it makes very little difference. Despite losing a few matches recently, they are still a top side," The News quoted Khan, as saying.
Pakistan, which has been almost alienated from international cricket, has gone through a number of controversies and problems in the recent past, and Khan believes that the forthcoming series is an opportunity to overcome some of the issues.
"This is a very big series for us for several reasons. If we win, then people will have to take notice because it is Australia. If we play to our potential and win a few matches, then I really think we can start getting out of this phase and move on," he added.
Meanwhile, controversial fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has said that he has recovered from his knee injury.
"My knee has reacted well and I am feeling strong," Akhtar said. (ANI)
