Varun Gandhi requests EC to appoint neutral observers
New Delhi, Apr 18 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi on Saturday requested the Election Commission (EC) to appoint neutral observers in order to prevent any sort of mischief by the Uttar Pradesh Government at the time of his filing the nomination on April 22.
"I request the EC to appoint neutral observers in order to prevent any sort of mischief by the State Government on the occasion of my filing of nomination papers in Pilibhit on April 22. The entire episode will be under your scrutiny," he said in a letter to the EC.
Gandhi also requested the EC to transfer the Pilibhit District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police.
"Alternatively, directions should be issued to the DM and SP against any illegal and partisan conduct with specific regard to my nomination process and electoral campaign," he added. (ANI)
