Malay-Indian state councilor pledges upliftment of Indian community
Putrajaya, Apr. 17 (ANI): Newly appointed state executive councilor of Malaysia's Bukit Selambau state, Malay-Indian S. Manikumar, has pledged to bring the problems faced by the Indian community to the Kedah Mentri Besar.
"I am aware that the Indian community in the state still faces many outstanding problems, particularly in relation to temples," The Daily Star quoted him, as saying.
Priority should be given to tackling these problems so that these could be resolved speedily, he added.
He also expressed disappointment at the lack of basic infrastructure for estate workers, who were forced to live with minimum facilities provided by the management.
Estate management should not be so profit oriented, but instead provide their workers with better living environment, Manikumar said. (ANI)
