We will launch games based on Indian context: Sony
Kolkata, Apr 14: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) will be launching six to seven Indian games this year at entry-level price point of Rs 499, a top official said on Monday, Apr 13.
The games will be launched primarily in India, however the company does not rule out getting them into markets of UK, Middle East, South Africa and Australia due to the presence of Indian diaspora.
"We will launch games based on Indian contexts, like traditional Indian outdoor and indoor games and another game based on the underworld activities in Mumbai," Atindriya Bose, country-manager - Playstation, Sony Computer Entertainment said.
Bose added that the themes in these games will be localised so as to catch the attention of the youth of the nation. Apart from the Village game which comprises of games like Kabbadi and Kite flying, company will launch Mumbai Under world games and Quiz-based games.
Games that will be launched in India can be played between PS2 and PSP platforms and they were all developed in partnership with separate gaming studios in India.
Bose further said that the gaming industry was growing in the country. And the recession had affected the industry in Nov and Dec but has bounced back since Jan.
