London, Apr 13 (ANI): Twitter is not longer the domain of younger generation, for a majority of people who use the chatting site are over 35, according to a new survey.

The research conducted by web monitoring company comScore showed that those aged 45 to 54 are 36 per cent more likely than average to visit the site.

And only 10.6 per cent of American Twitter users were aged 18 to 24.

The study also found that middle aged 'Tweeters' spend much longer on the site than their offspring.

Those between 35 and 44-years of age spend nearly 20 minutes on the site, in which they post short messages of up to 140 characters, while 18 to 24-year-olds spend a mere 5.3 minutes on average.

"It is the 25 to 54 year old crowd that is actually driving the [Twitter] trend," the Telegraph quoted Sarah Radwanick from comScore as saying.

"More specifically, 45 to 54-year-olds are 36 per cent more likely than average to visit Twitter, making them the highest indexing age group, followed by 25 to 34-year-olds, who are 30 per cent more likely," she added. (ANI)
