Bollywood actors participate in election campaigns
Mumbai/ Arah (Bihar), Apr 13 (ANI): Bollywood actor Salman Khan held a road show in Mumbai to campaign for Milind Deora, candidate of the Congress party.
Thousands of fans came to watch Salman.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt, who is the newly-appointed general secretary of the Samajwadi Party, campaigned for Rama Singh, a candidate of the Lok Janshakti Party, in Arah.
"Few days back, I had raised my voice for my Hindu and Muslim brothers. I had raised my voice against TADA and POTA because I'm a victim of these laws. I want to say just this much that I have come here to serve you and will always stand by you," said Dutt.
Earlier, Sanjay caused flutters in the political circles with his revelation that he was beaten up while he was in police custody in the nineties under the TADA.
The Supreme Court has rejected a plea by Dutt, convicted in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, to allow him to contest the general elections.
The court had said that Dutt had been convicted for a "serious offence" related to a terror attack on Mumbai and therefore his conviction could not be stayed.
Dutt was convicted in 2007 for taking an AK-56 rifle and a pistol from gangsters linked to the 1993 bombings in Mumbai in which 257 people were killed.
Dutt, sentenced to six years in prison, has appealed against the conviction in the Supreme Court and is currently out on bail. (ANI)
