Granny Sheila is a footie boss at 74

By Super Admin

London, Apr.11 (ANI): At 74, great grandmother Sheila Yorke has set up her own football team to get boys off the streets.

Sheila has passed the Football Association coaching badge so she could carry on as manager of teams for under 13s and under nines in Darnall, Sheffield. And, she has vowed to continue kicking the ball around at training sessions when she's in her 90s.

Sheila, who has nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, is a familiar sight on the touchlines. he got actively involved in the game after retiring as a factory worker."I thought of the idea while driving around where I live and seeing how many kids were playing football in the streets. I rallied round the kids to ask what they thought of having their own club and they jumped at the chance. I worked hard to raise funding and we're still going nearly ten years later," The Sun quoted Sheila, as saying. "All of the kids play on their games consoles and I thought it would be great to involve a console game in their training sessions. One my grandchildren, nine-year-old Connor, has a Nintendo DS and he's been teaching me how to use it. I'm always on the look out for new skills and techniques to help the boys enjoy the training more and hopefully this is making them better players. The boys are my absolute pride and joy. I love them to bits and they are so respectful and we have a great time," she adds.

"It's the best thing I've ever done - I wouldn't have it any other way," she says, adding that she is a big fan of current England coach Fabio Capello.

Her favourite footballer is David Beckham."He is brilliant - so unassuming and such a lovely man. I'd love him to come to my house so I could cook him some dinner," she says. (ANI)
