London, April 8 (ANI): CCTV footage appearing to show a glowing white figure roaming about in an historic country house is being investigated by experts after the site was said to be haunted by a former Earl of Sefton.

Liverpool City Council has hauled in specialists to examine the footage, which allegedly shows paranormal activity on the 400-year-old grounds of Croxteth Hall.

Living TV's Most Haunted presenter Jason Karl, one of the professionals called in, dubbed the video evidence as nothing less than "intriguing".

"Video footage of phantoms is very rare, and if this stands up to scrutiny it could be a very important piece of spectral evidence for the worldwide community of paranormal enthusiasts," the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

Councillor Berni Turner added: "It's great to think that we may have ghosts walking around these beautiful grounds."

It was suggested that the figure could be the ghost of the 7th Earl of Sefton, Hugh William Osbert Molyneux, who resided at the hall until he passed away in 1972.

Another theory proposed was that the grounds could be haunted by the 2nd Earl of Sefton, William Philip Molyneux, who is thought to pay annual visits to the hall at the time of the Grand National. (ANI)
