Ankara, Apr 7: On Friday, Apr 3, Turkish Police arrested a man for plotting to kill US President Barack Obama in Istanbul, Turkey.

The spokesman of the Secret Service said that Obama was not in any immediate danger.

Due to suspicion of fake members, the security around the traveling White House press corps has been increased. The scrutiny of press baggage was intensified as news outlets left Prague for Ankara on Sunday, Apr 5 and before departing Ankara for Istanbul.

In Prague the carry luggage of every member of the traveling White House press corps was checked by the Secret Service on the tarmac before they boarded the press charter. This was highly unusual since the corps were not flying with the President aboard Air Force One.

The checking procedure consisted of Secret Service dogs searching the luggage to see if they could find anything suspicious. No one on the charter was personally searched with a hand-held metal detector. The increased scrutiny was applied only to the traveling press corps' carry-on luggage.
