'Pak army ready to face internal-external threats'

Rawalpidi, Apr 7: Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Genral, Ashfaq Kiyani has said that the Pak army is capable of facing all 'internal and external' threats.

While speaking at the 63rd Formation Commanders Conference held in army's General Headquarters of Rawalpindi, he said, "The army is and will remain fully prepared to meet the current and emerging internal and external threats, with the full support of the nation."

General Kiyani was chairing the conference which was attended by corps commanders, principal staff officers and formation commanders. He highlighted the critical importance of the unity of national efforts to overcome the challenges faced by the country and the need for improving coordination between various units.

The Inter-Services Public Relations Statement (ISPR) as quoted in the Daily Times read, "He exhorted all commanders to devote all their efforts for the training of their men, as the year 2009 has been declared the 'Year of Training'."

According to the ISPR statement, the conference saw 'comprehensive briefings on the security environment and operational and training matters'.
