Sonia Gandhi to file nomination on Apr 6

Rae Bareily, Apr 6: Sonia Gandhi, the UPA chairperson and Congress party President will file her nomination to the Lok Sabha on Monday, Apr 6. She will be contesting from the Rae Bareily constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Since 1960 the constituency has been a Nehru-Gandhi family bastion. India's first woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi won it for the first time in 1967, taking over after the death of her husband Feroz, who was also an MP from here.

In 2004 general elections, Sonia Gandhi stood from Rae Bareily and won by a huge margin. The constituency will go to polls in the third phase on Apr 30. Congress President, will be accompanied by her son and Amethi MP, Rahul Gandhi. Sonia kicked of her poll campaign on Sunday, Apr 5 addressing three rallies in Uttar Pradesh.
