Graham Staines's killer to contest polls
Bhubaneswar, Apr 5: Killer of Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two small sons in 1999, Dara Singh filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Orissa's Ghasipura constituency by proxy.
However sources in the Election Commission said that the nomination is likely to be rejected as it is not supported by proper document. India's electoral laws bar anyone who has been jailed for two years from contesting elections.
Graham Staines and his two sons 10-year-old hilip and 6-year-old Timothy was burnt alive while they were asleep in their vehicle in Manoharpur, a village in Keknjhar district on Jan, 1999. Dara Singh and 12 of his associates was awarded life sentence for the crime in 2005.
