EC issues notice to Chidambaram
New Delhi, Apr 5: The Election Commission of India on Sunday, Apr 5 issued notice to Union Home Minister P Chidamabaram for offering poll sops during a visit to Rajasthan for a security review meeting. ECI asked Home Minister to reply by Monday, Apr 6.
EC notice came after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed a complaint, in which the party accused that Chidamabaram, during his visit to Rajasthan in Mar had taken up electoral issues. BJP said that Chidambaram talked about granting citizenship to displaced Hindus from Pakistan and additional facilities for passengers travelling by 'Thar Express'.
Chidambaram should reply to the notice by Monday, Apr 6 evening.
