Islamabad, Apr 4: Pakistan President, Asif Ali Zardari has ordered for an investigation into the recent case of a 17 year old girl being flogged publicly by the Taliban.

The incident took place in the Swat valley of Pakistan that had been signed over to the Taliban through a sharia deal. Zardari orders for a report from the North-Western Frontier Province (NWFP) Government regarding the matter and the arrests of the perpetrators. The Pakistan Prime Minister, Yosuf Raza Gilani too has taken the incident into serious consideration and asked for a report.

"President is shocked by the act of barbarism that has brought down heads in shame. Such barbarism is unpardonable," spokesman Farhatullah Babar said, as the Daily Times quoted .

While the NWFP government spokesman Mian Ifikhar has claimed that the incident happened way back in January when the deal with Taliban had not yet taken place, the Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan has taken on the responsibility of the incident. He says that his group members were the ones involved in it and that the girl deserved much more than their 'lenient' punishment.
