Peshawar, Apr 4: Pakistan Taliban militant leader Baitullah Mehsud claimed the responsibility for New York shooting which left 14 people dead on Friday, Apr 3 morning.
A new agency reported that Mehsud telephoned from an undisclosed location and said: "I accept responsibility. They were my men. I gave them orders in reaction to US drone attacks."
A gunman killed at least 13 and took as many as 41 people hostage at New York immigrant counselling centre, and then apparently killed himself .
Gunman entered the American Civic Association building after blocking a rear exit, then with a high-powered rifle mowed down people assembled for English classes, citizenship counselling and other services for immigrants.
It's not clear if there were any Indians among the dead and injured. 37 people survived the ordeal that lasted more than four hours.
