Chennai, Apr 2: Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) party of Tamil Nadu on Thursday, Apr 2 released the election manifesto urging to amend the Indian Constitution for a 'wholesome and genuine' federalism in the nation with autonomy at the state level and federal governance at the Centre.

The manifesto released by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK supremo M Karunanidhi took credit of implementing the Centre's 27 pc OBC reservation and opposed the 'creamy layer' concept, saying it would block OBCs from receiving the full benefit of reservation policy.

The party also urged to implement Rs 2,400 cr Sethusamudram project at the earliest. It asked the Central government to 'expediate the legal process' to implement it, since a case was pending in the Supreme Court 'citing religious reasons.' DMK manifesto also opposed any amendement to the Indian Constitution for a uniform civil code 'that usurps the religious and human rights of minorities in India'.
