Mumbai, Apr 1: Anjali Waghmare, the lawyer appointed by a special court to defend the Azam Amir Kasav aka Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasav, the lone terrorist caught alive 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Earlier Waghmare had asked for one more day to take up the case following pressure from Shiv Sena.
"I am under a lot of pressure. Give me one day to decide and think over it," an emotional Waghmare told special judge M L Tahiliyani."The media has exaggerated and is saying that I have taken the case up voluntarily. There were more than 300 persons outside my house on Monday, Mar 30," she had told the court.
Waghmare will be paid a mere amount of Rs 900 for the entire trial, which could last a year.
Kasav who earlier sought consular access from Pakistan, had requested the Mumbai court to provide a lawyer at the expense of the Maharashtra, due to lack of response from Islamabad.
