Sanjay Dutt cannot contest LS polls: SC
New Delhi, Mar 31: Supreme Court of India on Tuesday, Mar 31 said that Bollywood actor and Samajwadi party candidate from Lucknow, Sanjay Dutt cannot contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. SC which reserved the verdict earlier dismissed Sanjay's plea to stay his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai blast case.
Sanjay Dutt was convicted under the Arms Act and sentenced to 6-year imprisonment by the TADA court. Samajwadi Party had earlier stated that if Sanjay is barred from contesting, they might field his wife Manyata in Lucknow.
