'Varun Gandhi gets home food in jail'
Pilibhit, Mar 29: Varun Gandhi, the new face of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who was sent to judicial custody for his 'hate speech' received no 'VIP treatment' in prison, but was given homemade food for dinner on Saturday, Mar 28.
Mukesh Arora, Jail Superintendent said, "Due to security reasons, we have kept him in a separate cell but besides homemade food, no additional facilities are being provided to him." Local court sent him to judicial custody until Ma 30. Varun courted controversy after he inflammatory speeches against Muslims in Pilibhit during election campaign gained media attention.
More than 50 other BJP workers were also arrested after they created chaos and clashed with the police while Varun Gandhi surrendered in Pilibhit court. Election Commission of India (ECI) wanted criminal case filed against Varun for his communal speeches against Muslims.
