Bhagalpur (Bihar), Mar 26 (ANI): As the countdown begins for the general elections, voters in Bhagalpur region of Bihar have voiced their hopes and also the expectations from their prospective elected representatives.
The voters in Bhagalpur want the chosen representatives to understand the basic needs of the masses.
"Our representatives must not work on the basis of caste and region. We want a representative who can understand our basic necessities, one who can understand problems faced by every section of locals, the society, of the poor and the students in a better manner," said Ramesh, a resident.
However, some residents felt that false promises were being made by politicians.
"Every time during elections, politicians come, woo us by making false promises, but our position remains unchanged. So, why should I cast my vote and to whom?" said Shanti Devi, a lady voter.
Another resident was of the view that Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is better prime ministerial candidate.
"I prefer Congress Party, as it has been ruling the country for years and started many developmental projects. I feel that if Rahul becomes the Prime Minister then it will be better for the country," said Anurag Bharati, a voter.
Bhagalpur constituency is represented by Former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain of the Bharatiya Janata Party who will take on Shakuni Choudhary, candidate of the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
