New Delhi, Mar 24: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made a stinging comment on BJP's Prime Minister candidate LK Advani on Tuesday, Mar 24.

When asked about Advani's ability to rule India, Manmohan said 'his only contribution to national welfare was his role in the demolition of the Babri masjid.

In his verbal duel Singh called LK Advani an 'opportunist.' "All I can discover... in (Advani is) the prominent role he played" in the 1992 razing of the Babri mosque in Ayodhya that sparked off widespread Hindu-Muslim violence.

"What has he done to the contribution of national welfare?" asked the prime minister, with Congress president Sonia Gandhi seated by his side at the Congress headquarters.

"Whether I am a weak or a strong Prime Minister, actions of our government speak volumes about it," Singh told reporters while releasing the Congress manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday, Mar 24.

Singh took a dig at Advani for what he faced from his party on his return from Pakistan. "The party disowned him at the behest of masters in RSS when he came back. So whether Advani is strong man or weak man, let the records speak for themselves," he added.
