Chennai, Mar 21 (ANI): President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil said on Saturday that terrorism poses a great threat to global peace and should be dealt with firm determination.
Speaking at the passing out parade at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai this morning, Patil said that India has been a victim of terrorist attacks and modern warfare must necessarily incorporate measures to counter terrorism activities in the country.
Patil agreed on the need of latest technological advancements in arms and weapons.
"The modern army is a knowledge-based force and application of science and Information Technology has become an integral part of defence preparedness and warfare...In today's knowledge-centric era, every soldier should be technology efficient, a requirement that highlights the need for better training for increased efficiency," she said.
Patil also complimented female cadets for successfully completing the full training capsule in the first short service cource for women.
Earlier, Patil took the salute and reviewed the parade by the cadets.
She also presented awards to the best officers of the present batch.
On the occasion, 151 cadets, including 40 lady cadets were commissioned as officers in the Indian Army following the completion of their training at the Academy. (ANI)
