Third Front can seek Congress support to form government: Karat
New Delhi, Mar 18 (ANI): Nothing remains constant in politics and equation keeps changing, CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat described his relationship with Manmohan Singh as a political one, not a personal one, and said the decision to not allow Jyoti Basu to become Prime Minister was not a historic blunder.
In 1996, the CPM had refused to let Basu take the Prime Minister's oath at the head of a United Front government, something he later termed a "historic blunder".
Karat in an exclusive interview to NDTV said that there is no bitterness between him and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh even though they parted ways.
Karat also said the Third Front could ask the Congress to support them to form a government.
He said: "We can do business with them and ask them to support an alternative secular formation, it's possible- why not, I don't rule it out. It's not a question of untouchability."
"We'll do business with all parties but that business will be circumscribed by the nature of the mandate," Karat added. (ANI)
