Kathmandu, Mar 17 (ANI): Indian Ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood met Prime Minister Prachanda at latter's official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday.

According to Prachanda's press advisor Om Sharma, they discussed army integration, onstitution drafting process and the present political situation.

They also discussed about the participation of the Nepali Congress (NC) in the government.

The meeting between the two comes at a time when the Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala after returning from his India visit, has hinted about the possibility of his party joining the government

Kantipur quoted him as saying that the Nepali Congress can think about joining the government if the coalition leaders, the Unified CPN (Maoist), create a conducive environment for the same.

Koirala, who returned from New Delhi on Sunday, had briefed the party central members about his visit and had raised concerns over increasing Maoist intervention in the Nepal Army and administration.

His reaction comes amid reports of the Defense Ministry dismissing Nepal Army chief Rookmangud Katawal's recommendation to extend the term of eight Brigadier Generals, who would retire because of age limit.

Earlier, Prachanda had requested Koirala to join hands with the Maoists, only to be rejected by the latter citing unfavorable conditions. (ANI)
