Pilibhit (Uttar Pradesh): Varun Gandhi, a BJP candidate in the coming Lok Sabha elections, has stirred a major controversy by making inflammatory remarks against members of a community over which the Election Commission has slapped a notice seeking his explanation.

The 29-year-old son of Maneka and late Sanjay Gandhi is contesting his maiden Lok Sabha election from Pilibhit constituency. Maneka Gandhi gave up the seat to ensure his easy entry into the Lok Sabha.

"This is not a 'Hand' (Congress symbol), it is the power of the 'Lotus' (BJP symbol). It will cut the head of Muslims in India....... Jai Shri Ram," Gandhi, son of the late Sanjay Gandhi said from the top of his voice addressing an election meeting in Pilibhit, from where he is being fielded.

"All the Hindus stay on this side and send the others to Pakistan," says Varun Gandhi, Leader, BJP. He also told that Varun Gandhi is like a storm, he is another Sanjay Gandhi.

This outburst could cost him the Pilibhit seat, which his mother Maneka Gandhi had won five times.

Election Commission has sought report on Varun's communal remarks.
