MPA wins trust vote in Meghalaya Assembly
Shillong, Mar 17: The Donkupar Roy-led Meghalaya Progressive Alliance (MPA) government on Tuesday, Mar 17 won a trust vote as Speaker B M Lanong voted in its favour in the Meghalaya Assembly. The Speaker voted during a critical tie of 27:27 in the 60-member house during division.
The four out of five legislators who were suspended by the Speaker also casted their vote. But their votes were declared as invalid by the speaker.
There was pandemonium in the assembly as the Congress members shouted that he was 'biased' and had 'violated' the Constitution, immediately after the Speaker announced the results.
