Indian Premier League talks with BCCI inconclusive

New Delhi, Mar 16 (ANI): The Twenty20-tournament seems to be in troubled waters once again as the talks between the officials of Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI) and the Home Ministry ended inconclusive on Monday.

Officials of the BCCI met with the officials of the Home Ministry to discuss the schedule of the second season of the league in New Delhi.

Soon after the meeting, BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said that issues and concerns were discussed, but he refused to say whether the talks were conclusive.

"We had discussions. That's all we have to say now. The Home Ministry has expressed their concerns. We have also explained our difficulties and our own concerns and the importance about various State Governments consent," said Srinivasan.

The league was scheduled to be held from April 10 to May 24.

The league, involving many international players, has been thrust into the security spotlight in the wake of militant attack on Sri Lankan players in Pakistan.

Foreign players are raising concern over traveling to the sub-continent after the attack in Lahore left six members of the Sri Lankan squad wounded and seven Pakistanis, six policemen and a bus driver, dead.

Indian authorities want the Board to reschedule the league as the security forces would be busy providing cover for the massive poll exercise scheduled between April 16 and May 13.

The rescheduling would ensure no matches are held in cities when elections are being held. New Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad are the venues for matches. (ANI)
