New Delhi, Mar 15: Unveiling the Bharatiya Janata Party's 'IT Vision' document, prime ministerial candidate LK Advani said if NDA is voted to power, it will make Multi-purpose National Identity Cards.
Advani promised even to provide laptops to students at Rs 10,000 and broadband internet to all villages at a rate of Rs 200/month. The party also promised free mobile phones to people below poverty line.
"A BJP-led government will create a new policy climate where we use technology mainly for India's -- I would add, Bharat's -- sustainable development," said Advani. He added that his government would give prime importance to the use of technology to make national security robust, overcome the economic crisis, create large-scale productive employment opportunities and accelerate human development through vastly improved and expanded education and health care services.
He said the UPA government failed to make this 'connectivity revolution' a reality.
