Oz may opt out of 2010 Commonwealth Games

By Super Admin

New Delhi, Mar 15: Reports suggest that Australian team may pull out of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in fear of security reason. The decision came after revelations a lap top containing sensitive stadium security information was stolen from a New Delhi police station.

Australia which is planning to send 550 athletes and officials to India for the Games which will be held between 2010 Oct 3-14 is even mulling an option of hiring private security for the safety of its athletes.

Meanwhile the Indian government has promised to spend an additional $15.2 million to upgrade the security at the Commonwealth Games after the attack on Sri Lankan cricketers in Lahore earlier this month. Government is also planning to instigate security methods similar to those employed at 2008 Beijing Olympics.
