The drive was conducted to recruit personnel for the Indian Reserve Police (IRP) battalion.
"We have received an overwhelming response from this area. Traditionally, this area has a large representation as far as the police or security forces are concerned and that seems to be having an impact," said Jabeen Akhter, a police inspector.
The young women candidates want to serve the country just like men. The recruitment camp aimed at solving the unemployment problem to some extent.
Officials are hopeful that such a large turnout will help in further curbing militancy in the region.
