Mumbai, Mar 13: After Mulayam Singh, now its actor-turned politician MP Govinda's turn to distribute cash. Television channels aired a video of Govinda distributing cash to people outside his Juhu residence during Holi celebrations.
Election Commission has ordered a probe into the incident. The Election Commission has asked the suburban City collector , who is also the District Election Officer (DEO) to submit a detailed report on the issue.
"I really don't know why such a big issue is being made out of this. This is a ritual I do every year. I donate money to the poor and needy, and these include eunuchs, poor people in my area and actors who are financially in a bad shape,'' said Govinda about the issue. Meanwhile the Congress party General Secretary Sanjay Nirupam said it is a tradition among north Indians to give cash gifts during Holi.
On Thursday, Mar 12 Election Commission issued a notice to Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party supremo for giving cash to people in Saifai, during Holi celebrations.
