Pak police puts Sharif brothers under house arrest
Lahore, Mar 11: In an effort to stop the long march organised by the Pakistan's opposition party workers and lawyers to Islamabad, the authorities on Wednesday, Mar 11 decided to put Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif under house arrest, said a Geo TV report.
A crackdown was launched by the Police against lawyers and opposition leaders in several Punjab districts including Lahore, said the report.
Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Jamat-e-Islami leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed and Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan will be on house arrest.
The long march was organised by the opposition party to demand the government to reinstate the judges who were sacked by the former President, Pervez Musharraf.
Many activists of PML-N and Jamaat-e-Islami have been held by the Police while raiding their homes.
