NSG to upgrade its weapons post 26/11 attacks
New Delhi, Mar 10: After the gruesome Mumbai terror attacks in Nov, the National Security Guard (NSG) has taken an important step of upgrading its weapons and equipments.
The commando force had bought body-worn video and audio bugs, mini remotely operated vehicles and a real-time x-ray viewing system almost immediately after the Mumbai attacks. The force is now in the process of procuring 128 night-vision devices for its SIG (SWAT) assault rifles, eight laser listening devices and 146 units of light support weapons.
After the in-depth analysis of the force's weaknesses and strengths during 'debriefing' following the Mumbai operations, the decision to upgrade the NSG with latest hi-tech weapons was taken, sources said.
