Satyam scam: CBI gets custody of Raju brothers

Hyderabad, Mar 9: The XIV Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate granted Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) the custody of disgraced founder of Satyam B Ramalinga Raju, Rama Raju, former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Vadlamani Srinivas and two others, for seven days from Tuesday (March 10) in connection with the Satyam scam.

The decision by Hyderabad"s Nagpalli Court was in response to a petition moved by the Central Bureau of Investigation seeking the custody of B Ramalinga Raju, founder of Satyam Computer, and others.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate had on March 6 reserved its order for Monday, Mar 9 after hearing the arguments of the CBI counsel and defence lawyers.

Besides the Raju brothers, and the former CFO, the CBI would be quizzing audit house Price Waterhouse's partners S Gopalakrishnan and Talluri Srinivas in connection with the Rs 7,800 crore accounting fraud at Satyam Computer.

The CBI took up the Rs 7,800-crore Satyam accounting fraud case on Feb 20 and filed a petition seeking 7 days custody of Raju brothers and others which audited Satyam's accounts, for further interrogation.
