Mastermind of Bangla mutiny, Alam arrested

Dhaka, Mar 3: Deputy Assistant Director of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), Touhidul Alam has been arrested on Monday, Mar 2 for leading the Bangladesh mutiny that killed hundreds. He was attempting to flee the country when he was caught. The Bangladesh Army has launched a massive manhunt for the 1,000 other BDR members facing murder charges.

The massacre took place under his leadership and the rebels have accepted him as leader, said Nabo Jyoti Khisha, the chief of Lalbagh police station where a case has been filed.

The Police have gathered enough evidence against Alam and other conspirators. A 24 hr deadline was given to the conspirators to surrender, failing of which the Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina summoned the army and other forces to hunt them down. The soldiers are helping the Police in hunting down the conspirators.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Prime Minister had sought the help of American and British investigating agencies – FBI and Scotland Yard to probe the massacre.
