Whistling fans follow India's cricket stars on Kiwi tour

By Super Admin

Christchurch, Feb.27 (ANI): The Indian cricket team, which is currently on a tour of New Zealand, is being backed and supported by a group of whistling fans.

Dressed in the Indian shirt and face painting themselves with green, white and orange, the fans are adamant about which team they are backing, reports stuff.co.nz.

"Definitely India," said a beaming Tapan Patel minutes before the start of the last Twenty20 cricket international between New Zealand and India in Christchurch.

Patel was one of a group of "about 50" friends that were among the enthusiastic audience gyrating along with a group of "Bollywood" dancers performing in the concourse of the Paul Kelly Stand before the match.

With their flags and, especially, whistles, the Indian fans were loud and visible.

After the excitement that England's "Barmy Army" brought to Kiwi grounds last summer, it seems Indian expatriates like Patel will brighten surrounds during this international season. Their cricketers weren't bad either. (ANI)
