Watson to stage a comeback as 'batsman only'

By Super Admin

Brisbane, Feb.25 (ANI): Australian all rounder Shane Watson is all set to stage a comeback on the first-class cricketing arena when he takes the field in Queensland's Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales at the Gabba on Thursday.

Watson will be returning as a 'batsman only' in the game after stress fractures in his back forced him to remain out of action for nearly two months.

He is currently training under batting legend, Greg Chappell to improve his chances of making it to the Ashes squad later.

Fox Sports reports that Chappell has asked Watson to bat freely just like he does in the Twenty-20 version of the game, even in the longer version.

"I have been working with Greg on simplifying my technique over the last two weeks to ensure there is no inhibition on my game," Watson said.

Watson said he is concentrating on his batting only at the moment, and hoped to take his delivery stride in the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) next month.

"I'm feeling great - I am looking forward to getting out in the middle. I won't be bowling until after the season finishes. The Ashes are the big goal," he added.(ANI)
