TCS to extend working hours for employees

Bangalore, Feb 25: Tata Consultancy Services is planning to increase working hours by 10-15 percent by coming April from the existing 40-hour, five-days week cycle. The company believe that addition in working hours will help it to offset the losses it may incur from repricing of its existing contracts.

TCS like its smaller rival Infosys Technologies has put about 1000 employees under 'performance scanner' In 2008, the company had asked about 500 employees to leave after a similar performance improvement plan. The company officials said that this is an annual exercise to ensure delivery excellence for the customers. Infosys too has put around 5,000 of its employees under the so-called performance scanner.
