Pak authorities ignore Mohenjodaro
Islamabad, Feb.24 (ANI): The historical Mohenjodaro site is in shambles as the Pakistan Government ignored reports of continuous pilferage of relics.
Severe seepage has also damaged the ancient site.
The major tourist spot, still awaits implementation of a master-plan to give it a facelift.
According to The News, Pakistan's Ministry of Culture had earlier rejected the original plan amount of 6,500 million rupees for the redevelopment of the site, asking officials to bring the expenditure down by a third.
"The revised plan is also pending. Only routine funds are being released," an official said.
The government's apathy can be gauged from the fact that despite a legal ban on trespassing within 200 meters of the historical monument, heavy encroachment has taken place.
The Mohenjodaro, a World heritage site, is in dire need of attention. (ANI)
