Oscar Awards: Jay ho! India bursts out with joy

New Delhi, Feb 23: Jay Ho! Crowd cheer as composer A R Rahman won two Oscar awards for his music in Slumdog Millionaire. “I want to thank everyone. The essence of the film is optimism and hope. All through my life I had the choice of love and hate…I chose love and I am here," Rahman said.

Scores of people who are watching Oscar awards live through the TV are exalting with pride for India as India won seven Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire. People are happy for best documentary film award for Smile Pinky.

After Rahman won award, singer SP Balasubramaniam told a news channel that "I feel as though I have got this award. I know this boy from his childhood and I am really proud of him. The entire country is proud of him. There is a lot everyone can learn from him."

"His music has an emotion which penetrates to all people, Indian or whosoever they be. Only this time he has connected to a bigger audience," Bala added.
