Mumbai, Feb 22: The Directorate General of Shipping on Sunday, Feb 22 said in Mumbai that Somali pirates have held 11 Indians as captive. Three Indians are on the Kenya-registered fishing vessel Victoria-4, and 8 others are on MV Sea Princess-II.

The former was hijacked on Jan 7 while later between Jan 2,3. The Directorate said that no deaths are reported and are doing their best to contact the owners of the ship for the safe and early release of the captives.

All other Indians on ships hijacked by the pirates in 2008 have been released. The rising piracy in the Somali waters is a matter of concern for majority of the nations in the world as it is a crucial trade route.
