Lucknow, Feb 21: In a cinematic act, two under trials were killed by three unidentified gunmen in a court in Hathras, on Saturday, Feb 21.
According to police officials, the incident took place when the two prisoners, Kamlesh and Satyaeet, accused of rape and murder, were being produced before the district court
The two men were brought to the court to record evidence when their assailants opened fire with country-made pistols. But the alert policemen gunned down the three after a brief encounter.
"The incident took place when two jail inmates accused of rape and murder were being produced in the district court," Superintendent of Police JP Singh said."Three unidentified gunmen started firing indiscriminately on the jail inmates, but the alert policemen gunned down the three after a brief encounter," he said.
Though animosity is said to be the reason behind the act, efforts are on to ascertain the identify of those killed. The police have sealed the area. All dead bodies have been sent for post mortem.
