SGPC seeks apology from Antony on false statement in Rajya Sabha
Amritsar, Feb.20 (ANI): The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC), the premier governing body of the Sikhs, has sought an apology from Defense Minister A. K. Antony for misleading the Rajya Sabha on the issue on the manuscripts/articles recovered by the Army from the Golden Temple during Operation Blue Star in 1984.
Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar told mediapersons here that the SGPC would challenge Antony's statement in court.
Makkar alleged that the CBI officials with the connivance of local officials had taken books related to Sikh history.
On Wednesday, Antony had denied in the Rajya Sabha that the Army possessed any manuscripts or articles recovered from the Golden Temple during Operation Blue Star in Amritsar.
Makkar also alleged that the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre has always worked against the Sikh community and has been hatching conspiracies to weaken the SGPC. By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
