Girls vandalising college property arrested in MP
Jabalpur, Feb 20 (ANI): Girls affiliated to the National Students Union of India, the students wing of the Congress party, were arrested in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, for staging a violent protest.
Female students of Jabalpur's Home Science College claimed that the holding of semester examinations instead of annual ones would mar their future prospects. They also demanded the college principal's resignation.
"To register our protest against semester system, we approached the Chief Minister and many senior officers. But in spite of that, nobody paid heed to our demand," said Vandana Bel, the state secretary of the union.he principal said the girls vandalised college property.
"Not only did they cause damage to government property, but also disrupted an examination. They were not listening to anybody. Some 10-15 girls were shouting and vandalizing college property," said Chitralekha, the principal of the college.
The protesting girls claimed that the police baton charged them. (ANI)
